At the Hydrogeology luncheon at the 2018 Annual Meeting, a new fund was announced: the Thomas C. Winter Graduate Student Research Award. The fund is managed by the GSA Foundation and is named in honor of the late Thomas Winter. It will support research grants for graduate students working in hydrogeology/hydrology.
Winter enjoyed working with graduate students and supporting them during their work on his projects. During his own time in undergraduate and graduate school, he supported his family by working full-time with the USGS. He understood the challenges of pursuing college degrees and the financial support that is required. This fund is created in his memory to help graduate students pursue their passion for research and become future scientists being able to focus on their scientific work easier and possibly sooner.
Please make your gift to the fund today through the GSA Foundation.
Click here for additional information, deadlines, and application procedures. Application deadlines are set by GSA but are generally sometime in February.
