On To the Future Mentor
On To the Future (OTF) mentors are paired with a student who is a part of the OTF program that supports students from diverse groups who are attending their first GSA Connects. Mentors will meet with their mentee each day of the meeting, introduce the mentee to five contacts, and share their professional experiences in the geosciences. Matching will be completed using an online platform. Learn more. Approximately 75 mentors are needed.
Résumé or CV Mentor
Résumé mentors are matched with a student on-site to review the student’s résumé, providing advice and guidance on building a winning resume. Consultations take place for 30 minutes in the GeoCareers Center in a one-on-one format. Résumé mentors are asked to volunteer for a block of time (one-hour minimum). At least 28 mentors are needed.
Drop in Mentoring
Drop-in mentors are matched with a student on-site who wishes to ask questions and seek advice from a mentor. Consultations take place for 30 minutes in the GeoCareers Center in a one-on-one format. Drop-in mentors are asked to volunteer for a block of time (one-hour minimum). At least 28 mentors are needed.
GeoCareers Day Table Mentor
As a GeoCareers Day mentor you will be stationed at a table during the GeoCareers Day events to speak with students focusing on careers in industry and government sectors. As a table mentor you will help answer student questions in a small group format. Approximately 30 mentors are needed.
Women in Geology Mentor
The Women in Geology Program has speakers for the first 30 minutes followed by an informal gathering of students, early career professionals, and mentors. As a mentor you will answer questions, offer advice about careers plans, and comment on job opportunities within your professional field for approximately one hour. At least 30 mentors are needed.
Networking Reception Mentor
The Networking Reception is an informal gathering of students, early career professionals, and mentors. As a mentor you will answer questions, offer advice about careers plans, and comment on job opportunities within your professional fields. Approximately 40 mentors are needed.
