Eligibility for media registration is as follows, all of whom have equal access:
- Working press (journalists, photographers, videographers, bloggers, authors, and filmmakers) representing bona fide news media organizations with a press card, letter, or business card from the publication.
- Freelance science writers, presenting a current membership card from NASW, ISWA, regional affiliates of NASW, ISWA, CSWA, ACS, ABSW, EUSJA, or evidence of work pertaining to science published in 2017 or 2018.
- PIOs or institutional communicators from scientific societies, educational institutions and government agencies.
All registrants must provide credentials regardless of whether they have received press registration for past GSA meetings.
Representatives of the business side of news media, publishing houses, and for-profit corporations must register at the main registration desk and pay the appropriate fees. Editors of journals or other publications who do not report for or edit their outlet’s news section are not eligible for complimentary press registration.
Media preregistration is encouraged, and must be received by midnight on Monday, 29 October 2018. After that date you may register on-site with your appropriate media credentials. Preregistered members of the media should check-in and pick up their badges and programs in the main registration area.
