Student Representative

The role of the  Mineralogy, Geochemistry, Petrology, & Volcanology (MGPV) Student Representatives is to provide student perspectives on issues and activities related to the Division, seek input from other students in the Division, and communicate important information to student members.  Student representatives are voting members of the management board and are expected to participate in email and virtual communications, and when possible, come to the annual meeting and participate in Division functions (e.g., business meeting, reception, etc.).  The MGPVboard consists of five officers, representatives from adhering societies, and student representatives. The MGPV Division is seeking one graduate student to serve a three-year term as a student representative on the MGPV's management board.  We hope to find an enthusiastic member of our community who wants to work with us on braodeninig student representation. 

  • Requirements.  Students willing to serve a three-year term.  First year M.S. and Ph.D. students and senior undergraduate students willing to adhere to the three year commitment are encouraged to apply.  Applicants must be student members of GSA and MGPV. MGPV must also be the applicants principal division. Having more than one principal division is OK.
  • Application Details.  Aside from basic and contact information about you, the application must also include your CV and a statement of interest (≤ 500 words), both in .pdf format.  Application deadline is March 28, 2025. 
  • Start Date is September 8, 2025.
