Professional Development Webinars

Building Connections, Careers, and Community in Sedimentary Geology

The Sedimentary Geology Division is committed to supporting geoscientists at every stage of their professional journey. Our Professional Development Webinar Series provides students, recent graduates, early-career professionals, and those navigating career transitions with direct access to experienced professionals working across the broad field of sedimentary geology.

Our Professional Development Webinar Series connects attendees with experienced professionals from academia, industry, government, consulting, and related fields to provide practical career advice, mentorship, and insight into the many pathways available within sedimentary geology and the broader geosciences.

Learn from Professionals Across the Field

Each webinar features a panel of geoscientists representing diverse backgrounds and career paths. Through moderated discussions, panelists share their experiences, offer guidance, and discuss the opportunities and challenges they have encountered throughout their careers.

Panelists share:

  • Their personal career journeys and lessons learned
  • Insights into day-to-day work across different sectors
  • Hiring practices and what employers seek in candidates
  • Advice on building competitive résumés and CVs
  • Professional development strategies and networking tips
  • Perspectives on emerging opportunities within the geosciences

Interactive Discussions and Open Q&A

Sessions are structured as moderated panel discussions that encourage open dialogue between attendees and panelists. Participants are invited to ask questions, seek advice, and learn from real-world experiences shared by professionals in the field.

Who Should Attend?

This series is designed for a wide audience:

  • Undergraduate students exploring geoscience careers
  • Graduate students preparing for the next stage of their professional journey
  • Early-career geoscientists seeking guidance and mentorship
