Welcome to the Geology and Health Division website

Many aspects of health are affected by geological materials or by geological processes. The Division's focus is to develop the highest quality understanding of the origins and fates of naturally occurring materials that affect health and the earth processes that affect health.

We are very excited about all of the activities The Geology and Health Division will have throughout the 2024 GSA Connects Annual Meeting in Anaheim, CA from Sept 22-25.  They include the following (with additional information on our comunity page):

Technical Program;

Awards Ceremony- Sunday at 5:00pm in Room 210D;

Division Booth with merchandise for sale and a raffle;

Division Student Poster Contest;

Division Member Social Event- Tuesday evening 5:30-7:30pm;

  • Student Travel Grant Application Closing Soon!

    Student Travel Grant:

    Please send nomination materials to rachel.coyte@nmt.edu by August 1st, 2024.

    The division will award a travel grant of up to $200 to a student attending the national Geological Society of America meeting. The student must be the first author of a paper to be presented at the meeting. The application shall include a statement of how the funds will be used and the title of the paper to be given at the meeting. Only members of the Geology and Health Scientific Division are eligible for this grant. The deadline for submission of the application is August 1, 2024. The award recipient will be notified by August 31, 2024. The application should be submitted electronically to Dr. Rachel Coyte (rachel.coyte@nmt.edu), Chair of the Awards Committee.

    We need you to design a new logo for the geology and health division. Please send you logo design to lruhl.geo@gmail.com by May 31st, 2024.
