NOTICE

The official GSA housing bureau is Orchid.Events, and they will NOT contact attendees directly to solicit new reservations. If you are contacted by someone who claims to represent GSA, please notify the GSA Meetings Department at meetings@geosociety.org.

GSA Housing Bureau is still accepting new reservations. Book the GSA group rate at the Sheraton today!

GSA has negotiated special hotel rates for GSA 2019 attendees. We appreciate your support by staying in the official GSA hotels; your patronage enables GSA to secure the meeting space at a greatly reduced cost, which in turn helps lower the cost of the meeting and your registration fees.

Orchid.Events (OE) is GSA’s only official housing company for this meeting. To be included in the GSA room block and receive GSA rates, you must make your reservation through OE. Reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served, space-available basis. We recommend that you make your reservation early for the best opportunity to get the hotel of your choice.

Renovations at Sheraton Phoenix Downtown started in June 2019 and will be ongoing through GSA 2019 Phoenix.

Currently the lobby (1st Floor) is the main entrance to the hotel located at the front drive. Valet parking, bell stand and concierge services will all be located on this level. Hotel check-in and front desk services will be on the 2nd floor of the hotel in Deer Valley room. The restaurant/ bars will be relocated on the 4th floor where the Cove Restaurant and Lounge will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with buffet service. The Breeze Bar will also be open with expanded seating and a menu for refreshing cocktails, and small plates/appetizers. The Sheraton will still have 24-hour room service available.

Renovations to guest rooms started Memorial Day and will be ongoing and completed by January 1, 2020. No guests will be placed on the floors that are being transformed and there is a buffer floor above and below the floors that are undergoing renovations. Thank you, and please contact GSA Meetings at meetings@geosociety.org with any questions.

Additionally, please note that the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown was recently renamed. It was previously known as the Sheraton Grand Phoenix.

The Hyatt Regency Phoenix is in the process of a $40 Million Hotel Renovation.

The plans will encompass the Meeting Space, Public Space, Pool, Hotel Restaurants and the Sleeping Rooms. The renovation began late last year and will continue thru the balance of 2019. We have planned effectively to ensure your stay will minimally impacted.

The Restaurant on the first floor (NETWORKS) will undergo a transformation and will reopen in December as BARREL AND BUSHEL. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner will be served from the COMPASS Restaurant, located on the 24th floor of the hotel during your visit. Grab and go items will be available at MARKET located in the main lobby and opening at 5:30AM daily. The HYATT will have a Lobby Bar, located near the market and will open at 3:00PM daily.

The Front Desk is being moved to the middle of the Lobby on the First Floor as you enter the hotel and is scheduled to be complete prior to the GSA meeting dates. The pool will be closed during our meeting dates but arrangements have been made at the Renaissance if you have time in your schedule to enjoy the sun.

The renovation work will take place during day time hours and conclude at 5PM each day. All construction associates will work inconspicuously.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Hyatt Regency Phoenix.

Housing Policies

Please contact OE at +1-855-657-0547 or help@orchid.events if you have special requests, including if you need to book a suite. Some requests are not guaranteed and hotels will assign specific room types upon check-in, based on availability.

OE will send reservation acknowledgements within 24 hours via email if you booked online or by telephone; fax and mail acknowledgements will be sent within 72 hours of receipt. If you do not receive your acknowledgement in this time frame, contact OE. You will not receive a written confirmation from the hotel. The hotels will not access their room lists from OE until sometime between the 29 Aug, and 12 Sept. Please do not contact the hotels directly regarding you reservation until after 12 Sept.

All reservation requests must be accompanied by a credit card guarantee or check equaling the amount of one night’s room and tax for each room reserved. Reservations cancelled on or after 20 Aug. but prior to 12 Sept. will be subject to a US$25 fee for each room cancelled. Cancellations made after 12 Sept. will be subject to the hotel’s cancellation policy. There is a 72-hour cancellation policy in place for all reservations. Failure to cancel a reservation 72 hours prior to arrival will result in a one-night non-refundable guest room charge plus applicable taxes posted to the attendee’s credit card on file. Through 12 Sept., please send requests for changes and cancellations via email to OE at help@orchid.events or in writing by fax to +1-801-355-0250. After 12 Sept., contact hotels directly to make changes and cancellations.
