Introducing the Geologic Time Scale Committee!
The Geologic Time Scale Committee includes members involved with relational time (e.g. stratigraphy, biostratigraphy, cyclostratigraphy), numerical time (e.g. radioisotopic dating), and paleomagnetism. The committee meets at least once per year in conjunction with meetings of the International Committee on Stratigraphy (ICS), and takes recommendations made by the ICS to decide which changes to implement into the Geological Society of America's (GSA) version of the time scale. The changes are then communicated to GSA's publication unit, who maintain's ownership of the time scale within the GSA.
Current members of the GTSC are: Courtney Sprain (University of Florida); Stephen Meyers (University of Wisconsin-Madison); Jennifer Kasbohm (Carnegie Science); J. Douglas Walker (University of Kansas).
