About the Award

The Richard and Annette Wohl award was established in 2025. This fund provides research support to a graduate student whose proposal demonstrates an environmental sustainability connection to their proposed research. It was established in honor of Ellen Wohl’s parents, Richard and Annette Wohl; the intrepid explorers who nurtured her curiosity and encouraged her appreciation of ecology. “They raised me to ask questions, investigate the outdoors, and do all the things natural scientists do,” Ellen says.

How to Apply

Application is done via the usual Student Research Grant Program by GSA. Any research grant application that has "Quaternary Geology and Geomorphology" selected as the General Field of Research Project and that has selected any of the optional demographic information tick-boxes will be automatically eligible for consideration for our awards. PLEASE NOTE that a single application can be simultaneously considered for multiple awards.

THE APPLICATION PROCEDURES ARE AVAILABLE   http://www.geosociety.org/gradgrants

Application deadline for all student awards is the same as the GSA Graduate Student Research Grant deadline.
