  • Another great session shaping up for Seattle!

Hey G&S! Jen Pierce and George Stone are putting together a fantastic session for Seattle, co-sponsored by the division. Check it out:

In the current context of U.S. government denial of anthropogenic climate-change and withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement, please consider submitting an abstract to the topical session Planetary climate disruption demands urgent global policy action (T.75) for the 2017 GSA in Seattle on Tuesday, October 24, 8:00-12:00 am.

This timely session assumes special importance as a means of emphasizing to the geoscience community and the public the fundamental role of scientific research and the rational analysis of evidence in formulating responsible public policy decisions.

We invite speakers and participants from a variety of disciplines within both earth and social science to connect climate change science to climate change action: how can we move forward to enact positive change? What policy decisions can we draw upon to provide a path forward? This session will include time for a panel discussion, and audience P&A. Confirmed invited presenters include Michael Mann, Lonnie Thompson, and Ben Horton.

The abstracts submission form is now “live” and can be found at http://community.geosociety.org/gsa2017/science-careers/sessions/topical. The abstract deadline is 11:59 p.m., Pacific Time, 1 August 2017.

If you have any questions, please contact Jen Pierce (jenpierce@boisestate.edu) or George Stone (geotstone@gmail.com).
