GEORGE P. WOOLLARD AWARD
Nominations are due February 15th
The George P. Woollard Award is given annually by the Geophysics and Geodynamics Division to recognize individuals who have provided outstanding contributions to geology through the application of the principles and techniques of geophysics. The award is presented at the GSA Annual Meeting (GSA Connects). The recipient will be requested to deliver an honorary George P. Woollard Technical Lecture before the award ceremony that provides an overview and musings on his or her work. At the joint award ceremony, a citationist (usually the person who submitted the nomination) reads a written citation and the awardee reads a written response.
How to submit your nomination for the Woollard Award
To nominate, please provide a brief statement on the nominee's qualifications, including specific work or outcomes and how these have contributed to geology. Please include their CV, contact information, and no more than three letters of support. Please email these as attachments to the Geophysics and Geodynamics Division Chair.
Nominations are due February 15 and are valid for three years. Awardees will be notified in the late spring. Nominees shall not be under investigation by any court, regulatory agency, employer, or other public or private entity for professional misconduct of the type covered in GSA's Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct; nor shall nominees have been found to have engaged in such misconduct by any entity.
