Warming of Siberia and its effects on The Great Vasyugan Mire (the largest boreal wetland)

Holy (Al) Gore! It is May 4 and the temperature in Tomsk (Siberia?) is 78 degrees Fahrenheit… this is not the Siberia I remember from my early childhood…

Found records from a dozen of the weather stations in the region; they all look the same; here is one:

At the same time pH of the snow-melt water goes up (at least since 1997)… less CO2 in the precipitation? But, at the same time pH of the wetland waters consistently decline, along with parallel increase in the concentrations of humic and fulvic acids (more decay @ higher temps?) …and there are interestingly consistent trends in the overall chemical composition of the waters… Next Tuesday, going out to make the May 2014 sampling.

Oh – one drawback: it is the tick season… no shorts or sandals…
