  • NAGT/USGS Field Education Forum at GSA

The annual NAGT/USGS Field Education Forum at GSA will be held on Sunday,10/15, 2:30-4:00 PM Eastern, Somerset Room (2nd Floor), Westin Pittsburgh Hotel.
This annual forum provides an open space for ANYONE involved in field education. Please plan to attend and pass the invitation along to anyone who might like to participate. This year’s meeting will be hosted by Anne Egger (NAGT), Chris Atchison (NSF), and Kurt Burmeister (CSUS). Last year’s format worked pretty well, so the plan is to do something similar:
    1. Overview of changes to eligibility requirements and the nomination process for the NAGT/USGS Cooperative Summer Fellowship Program (10 min)
    2. Introduction to the new Gary Fuis and Stacey Andrews Scholarship (5 min)
    3. Open discussion – topics could include: trip logistics, near misses/lessons learned, safety training/equipment, hybrid digital/field approaches, or anything that you would like to discuss!
    4. Revisit & further explore interest in periodic topical NAGT Field Education Webinars, topics could include: risk tolerance among students, mitigating novelty spaces, legal concerns, strategy -vs- culture in field safety
Please help spread the word - please pass this invitation along to anyone who might like to participate. Below is a flyer for printing and social media posts.
We hope to see you there!
