MGPV has been accepted as an “Affiliated Organization” of Elements magazine, a designation for umbrella organizations in mineralogy, geochemistry, and petrology that lack a financial structure to be a full Participating Society.
Elements is published jointly by 18 mineralogical and geochemical societies, including MGPV’s Adhering Societies - Mineralogical Society of America, Geochemical Society, Mineralogical Society of the UK and Ireland, Mineralogical Association of Canada, and the Clay Minerals Society. Appearing bimonthly, each issue covers a theme of broad interest, and includes opinion articles, event calendars, short course announcements, awards, conference reports, policy news, and society news. It reaches over 16,000 individual and 1,300 institutional subscribers in 77 countries and is included in GeoScienceWorld.
An Elements Affiliated Organization can feature its activities in the “Society News” section and be listed on the Participating Society page. MGPV’s membership is 92% North American, while only 31% of Elements Participating Societies are based in North America. By affiliating with Elements, MGPV can reach a global audience about its activities, aligning with GSA’s goal of promoting science internationally.
