The Consortium for Ocean Leadership, in partnership with the American Meteorological Society, James Madison University, Los Angeles Valley College, and several other higher education institutions, invites minority-serving institution (MSI) faculty to attend the NSF-supported MSI-REACH Reconstructing Earth's Climate History workshop at the Gulf Coast Repository in College Station, TX on August 1-5, 2005. MSI-REACH trains MSI faculty to understand paleoclimate evidence derived from ocean sediment cores and acquire the hands-on skills necessary to bring this exciting inquiry into new and existing Earth and environmental science classes on their campuses.
All costs will be covered for the summer workshop. Housing expenses and a $500 stipend will be provided for the follow-up meeting at a professional geoscience conference. Participants will also receive mentoring to support resource implementation from research scientists and undergraduate education specialists.
