A special opportunity has arisen for your students in need of a unique field course experience. Recently, a few spots in JMU’s Field Geology Mapping course in Western Ireland have opened up. This course has existed since 1997 in cooperation with the National University of Ireland-Galway, and represents a compact, rich experi
ence engaged with late Proterozoic to Quaternary geology and geomorphology. The course offers traditional as well as digital mapping techniques, as well as specialized experiences in hydrology, geophysics, engineering geology, and sedimentary basin analysis, led by an experienced staff. If that were not enough, it is also a signature study-abroad opportunity, a unique characteristic among field courses.
