Explore HAWAIIAN volcanoes

This trip is open for all college/university students - undergraduate and graduate.  The trip is also open to K-12 teachers.

Join an exciting and enthusiastic group of teachers/students as they learn first-hand the wonders of active volcanism on the Big Island of Hawaii!  

This field experience on the Big Island of Hawaii will introduce you to modern volcanic landscapes including positive/negative landforms, different lava flow styles, lava tubes, ash fall deposits, fissure eruptions, explosive eruptions, fire fountains, lava lakes, tree molds, fault scarps, craters, calderas and more.

The program will include hiking almost every day to discover features and mapping of features to increase your mapping and interpretation skills.   You can expect to be involved in small group work in geological environments completely foreign to most geoscientists.  This is a wonderful leaning experience that will grow you as a geologist, a naturalist and a person.

Price : approx $US1399 per person (not including flights to and from Hilo, HI)

Price includes all land transport in Hawaii, breakfasts and three dinners, all park entrance fees, field notes.
