Eruption in Holuhraun, Iceland

Good evening.
I just wanted to blog a little about my trip to the eruption in Iceland, where I live. Excuse my english, it's not good but maybe tolerable.

My name is Kristinn Ingi Pétursson and I'm a Tour Guide and a Geological enthusiast living in Iceland.

I recently went to see the Eruption and the Lava in Holuhraun, North of Dyngjujökull Glacier. It was on 3rd of September.

It was of course amazing to witness, to feel the earth vibrating in a way I've never felt before, seeing lava fountains up to 120 meters, watching the lava crawl slowly and the sound, the sound of the lava was like listening to glass, broken glass. Well, it’s glass in a way.

Here is a video I recorded on my Nikon D5300, please turn down the volume, the noise from the wind is bad. http://youtu.be/RgcMc92CYIE

Here are also some photos, accessible if you have a Facebook account: https://www.facebook.com/Reykjadalur/media_set?set=a.10203452884616316.1073741860.1038979896&type=1

The area is closed due to the possibility of flood from eruption under the glacier, and also because of the high volume of sulfur dioxide.
The sulfur dioxide reached 4000 micrograms/m³ (1526 ppm) in a village in the Eastfjords and now it is blowing to my direction, to the village of Laugar and the nearby area.

This is an instructive and informative video. Thank you very much for sharing.
BTW. Your written English is as good, if not better, than most first year American university students!
